Dan Bejar (Destroyer) Mounts Small Solo Tour, Cafe Du Nord and Swedish American Dates

We're huge fans of Dan Bejar's non-New Pornographers project, Destroyer, so we were more than a little psyched when we heard that Bejar would be doing a small solo tour this spring. We were even more psyched when we discovered that two of the tours four dates will be right here in San Francisco, at Cafe Du Nord and the Swedish American Music Hall.

While many of Bejar's arrangements can be sprawling and intricate, his songwriting also bears an intimacy and lyricality that certainly makes it an apt choice for the solo show format. Combine that with the fact that we've never seen a Bejar live performance and, well, you can bet we'll be there. Tickets are on-sale now here, and here.

Matt Bauer's At Swedish American Tonight

If you're looking for something a tad more chill than Silver Jews, former San Franciscan Matt Bauer will be at the Swedish American tonight, opening for Two Gallants' Adam Stephens. Bauer's live set is fantastic, and his shows deliver an eerie, stoic dose of folk. Combined with the Swedish American's acoustics, this show should be a musical treat. Grant-Lee Phillips To Play Swedish American

On Friday, June 13th, Grant-Lee Phillips (also known as the lead singer of Grant-Lee Buffalo) will be playing the Swedish American Music Hall. We here at H.A.D. have never seen Phillips live, but we love the Buffalo discs, and seeing this guy in a small room with great acoustics should be a treat. The man writes great tunes, but moreover, has an amazing voice. Be there.

Tonight At The Swedish American: Sondre Lerche

As previously mentioned, Sondre Lerche will be playing an all-acoustic set at the Swedish American Music Hall this evening. While we'll be BBQing and catching the Joy Division biopic Control, we can say without a doubt that the little Norwegian delivers a stellar live performance. We saw him at TT the Bear's back on his first American tour, and good times were had by all. If you find yourself wanting for music this evening, this is a safe bet. If you're just looking for some good on-line entertainment, we recommend Lerche's blog. Hilare.

Sondre Lerche @ Swedish American On 11/11

After opening for Air at Bimbo's, Sondre Lerche will be returning to the city this November to play at everyone's favorite venue-without-a-liquor-license, the Swedish American Music Hall! Lerche is a great song writer, and generally a super-charismatic guy in the live setting, so this should be a treat. Tickets are on sale now: $18, $20 at the door.
