Scott Weiland: Stream The Solo Record, Winter Tour, Regency Grand In February

Okay, so first let us do our part by quickly admitting our mistakes: We had (apparently overzealously) reported that Scott Weiland would be playing the Regency Grand late this month to support his new record. Well, it turns out he will be playing the Regency Grand, just not until February 5th. In fact, he has a nationwide tour planned that will cover both coasts (and in between) over the next few months. Frankly, we think this is a good thing, as it gives us time to get nice and familiar with his new solo record Happy In Galoshes.

Now, about that record. Frankly, we're sorta fan boys for Scott Weiland. We even met him in a bar in LA once, and he was a most gracious and chill dude. What's more, the guy has a killer voice and real rock and roll attitude. Sure he's had his share of rough spots, but we basically loved everything STP put out, and (even if we were in the minority) we really, really, liked his first solo album. The Velvet Revolver stuff was a little too far into the "hard rock" arena for our liking, and so we're glad to see him coming a bit back to the middle on the new solo disc. That disc drops next week, but you can hear it in its entirety right now at Mr. Weiland's myspace page. Enjoy.

New Scott Weiland Track Hits The Web

Spin.com has a track from the new Scott Weiland record Happy In Galoshes that we mentioned on Sunday. While "Paralysis" isn't quite as ecelectic as a lot of the tracks on Twelve Bar Blues were, it does manage to head away from pure hard rock, which is nice. Also, to be honest, doesn't it sound a bit like it could be a Scissors For Lefty outtake, or is that just us?

Scott Weiland: New Solo Record, Playing Regency Grand

Wow, this one sure caught us unawares: in the wake of Velvet Revolver's breakup, and a brief reunion with Stone Temple Pilots, Scott Weiland has now decided to revive his solo career. We here at HAD are actually pretty psyched for this news: Weiland's first disc, 12 Bar Blues, is a fave of ours, and quite underrated. The 1998 effort was produced by Daniel Lanois, and is a highly eclectic selection of tracks that really showcase Weiland's stylistic flexibility. The album's marketing and PR was significantly undermined by Weiland's imprisonment, and as such it managed to fall by the wayside.

The new disc, Happy In Galoshes, is produced by Velvet Revolver produce Doug Green. Given that, and the cover art (which oddly, we can't seem to upload without having the colors reverse), we're guessing that this disc may be a bit more of a "hard rock" outing than Weiland's last. Weiland seems pretty on track these days, and in addition to releasing a new record, he's apparently mounting a tour for the disc as well. Apparently, he'll be a the Regency Grand on December 4th. If that means an opportunity to hear not only the new disc, but also some tracks from the old one, well you can count us in. No mp3s or confirmation of that date yet, but we'll let you know as news develops...
