Jack White To Drop Solo Record In April

Well, it's finally happened: Jack White has given up on the facade of a band, and embraced his inner musical genius to release a solo record.  Titled Blunderbuss, the album will be released on April 24th.  The first single is entitled "Love Interrupted", and if it's any indication, this record is going to be exactly what we've been wanting from White for years.

Tempered with woodwinds, and a Fender Rhodes, the track is a simple ballad  in classic White style, with a gentleness that recalls the best moments of the White Stripes' Get Behind Me Satan.  It's been clear that White has had this up his sleeve for years, and we're glad he took the plunge.  Stream the track below.

Jack White Played SXSW (Video)

Are you one of the many feverishly debating whether or not SXSW jumped the shark this year? We certainly hope not, because that would be silly. Because one fact remained unassailably true: SXSW features awesome musicians, making awesome music. And where there's awesome music, well, that's a good place to be.

We didn't make it down to Austin, but luckily the fine folks at NPR Music did, and delivered this fine video of Jack White. Jack was on hand for the launch of the Third Man Records moving store, as well as to celebrate the signing of Seasick Steve, who also features in the video.

First, you get to hear White do killer solo versions of "Not Fade Away" and "Dead Leaves On The Dirty Ground". Next, Seasick Steve delivers a killer dose of blues, in spite of a finicky and malfunctioning amp. Like we said: awesome, awesome, music. Forget the haters.

The Dead Weather: I Cut Like A Buffalo - Video

We're not totally sure why Jack White can't just up and admit that he should be a solo artist, but that doesn't change the fact that the new video for "I Cut Like A Buffalo" from the The Dead Weather (above) is a total mindfuck of awesomeness. And the tune, with it's campy droning organ riff, isn't half bad either. Checkit.

Listen To The New Bond Theme (Jack White + Alicia Keys = ?)

Not sure how this slipped by us, but the Jack White/Alicia Keys collaboration "Another Way To Die" is now available as more than a snippet from a Coke commercial. The track is kinda sorta exactly what you'd expect, and has the distinct vibe of The White Stripes "Conquest" mashed up with the Moulin Rouge retake of "Lady Marmalade". We're not unimpressed, we're just not exactly impressed either. "Live And Let Die" it is not (or "Nobody Does It Better", for that matter). Still, no amount of musical influence one way or another is going to change how stoked we are for Quantum Of Solace. Daniel Craig just kicks ass as Bond, plain and simple.
