You have to be something of a die hard fan to want to hear your favorite musician spin records rather than perform. That, or you have to be enough of a vinyl fetishist that hearing new records is almost as good as a liver performance. Believe us, we can empathize. If that sorta thing is your cup of tea, then Amoeba Records may be the spot for you tomorrow.
Along with a few other local luminares, John Vanderslice will be spinning records at Amoeba's SF location in honor of Record Store Day. Vanderslice is a hometown hero, indie rock aficionado, and general all around good guy, so listening to him spin records most likely worth the trip. If you need added incentive, there's a gamut of exclusive record store day releases, and the store will be bustling with festive atmosphere. That, and the fact that you know you love your local indie record shop - there's not really an excuse not to show up, is there?

LCD Soundsystem Drummer Pat Mahoney To Play DJ Set At Mighty
If you're anything like us here at HAD (or, let's be frank, the rest of the blogosphere), then you have a nice big soft spot for the boys in LCD Soundsystem. Their records are killer, loveable, danceable nuggets that just demand numerous repeat listens.
Well, the band isn't going to be in town any time soon that we know of, but drummer Pat Mahoney will be in attendance on January 29th at Mighty. Mahoney will be playing a DJ set, and if he's giving any creedence to his band's influence, then it will no doubt be highly danceable. Can you think of a better way to spend your Thursday night? We thought not.

One For The Cheapies: Diesel Noise Pop Happy Hour
If you're too cheap to dole out some cash for tickets, or maybe you just couldn't get tix to the show you want, then maybe it's worth checking out the Diesel store at 101 Post Street. They'll be running a Noise Pop themed happy hour every night from 5-9PM, and it's co-sponsored by Bass. They'll have DJ sets from a number of noteworthy acts (Scissors For Lefty, Two Gallants), and acoustic sets from Port O'Brien and The Morning Benders on Friday and Saturday, respectively. So: with free music and free (?) Bass, can you really go wrong? We thought not.
