David Bowie - "Thru' These Architects Eyes"

Philip Johnson's Glass House

"Thru' These Architects Eyes" is hidden away on the second half of David Bowie's "return to form" record 1.Outside, and it's too bad, because it means that it's likely escaped many people's notice. A riffy, bass driven pop song, it almost seems like it would have been more at home on Black Tie White Noise than on this record.

Not that that causes us to love the tune any less. It's got an awesome groove, killer piano from longtime Bowie collaborator Mike Garson, and is a classic example of Bowie's Burroughs-inspired mashup lyrics. In all truth, we seldom stumble across Bowie we dislike, but this one has a special place in our hearts.

We're not sure why exactly, maybe it's just the killer Philip Johnson name drop. Either way, we think you'll dig.
